The middle of the room says little
A resin floor almost always looks good in the middle of a room. The material flows out, the surface becomes flat, the colour is even. Anyone who wants to judge a floor should therefore look at the places where it gets difficult: the connection against a wall, the transition to another material, and the passage through a doorway.
This detail shows such a connection: a PSL 3650 floor meeting a door frame. The line is crisp, the surface runs on right up to the frame without a build-up or a pull-back, and the colour stays even all the way to the edge.
Why edges are difficult
With a resin floor the material is poured out and then finished. In the open surface, gravity does much of the work. At an edge it does not: there the applicator determines how the material runs up against the obstacle, and that is where the layer thickness becomes irregular fastest.
Edges also stand out visually. Nobody notices a slight undulation in the middle of a room; the same undulation along a crisp door post or skirting is immediately apparent, because the eye has a straight reference line to compare with.
That is why we regard detailing as the real craftsmanship of the applicator — and why technical support at Cuore is also about this kind of situation. The founders of Cuore come from installing resin systems. That background is exactly why we understand where things get tricky on site.
Terracotta in a resin floor
What also makes this project interesting is the colour. Resin floors are often carried out in greys, white or anthracite. A warm terracotta shade is rarely seen — and that is a pity, because in a living environment that colour looks surprisingly soft.
Terracotta has an earthy undertone that goes well with natural materials: wood, clay plaster, linen, unpainted brickwork. Unlike a cool grey, it adds warmth to the space instead of standing neutrally within it.
The floor was carried out in PSL 3650 with our WPT 5000 CM top coat. That system is available in all RAL and NCS colours, in matt or satin. The colour palette is therefore no limitation in the design: if the colour exists, the floor can be made in it.
What else PSL 3650 offers
Besides the colour range, these are the properties that make the system suitable for homes and commercial spaces with high design requirements:
- Seamless, with no joints or transitions in the surface
- Robust and solid, even under intensive use
- UV-resistant thanks to the WPT 5000 CM final coat, so colourfast where daylight falls
- Matt or satin, depending on the desired appearance
That UV resistance counts for more the more pronounced the colour is. With a warm, saturated shade such as terracotta, discolouration would be immediately visible — with a light grey it is far less noticeable.
