A reception that radiates calm: PSL 3650 in an office

In an office in Turnhout, PSL 3650 forms the light, seamless base of a reception with birch trunks. Why a resin floor also works in a professional environment.

The first impression starts with the floor

Reception is a company's calling card. Visitors often wait there for a moment and look around. What they see shapes the impression they take away of the organisation.

In this office in Turnhout, the reception was deliberately kept simple. A desk in a light tone, a screen of birch trunks dividing the space, and a yellow kitchen wall as the only colour accent. Underneath lies PSL 3650 in a light, warm shade (RAL 1013), finished with our UV-resistant WPT 5000 CM top coat.

One tone for floor and desk

What makes this space calm is the coherence. The desk and the floor share the same light tone, so they blend into each other. There is no sharp boundary between furniture and substrate, and the eye is not distracted.

This allows the screen of birch trunks to come fully into its own. The vertical trunks add structure and a natural element to the space, and against the even, seamless floor every trunk stands out. The same goes for the yellow kitchen wall: a single colour accent works best against a calm background.

What an office floor has to withstand

An office floor has to withstand more than you might think. Staff coming and going every day, visitors, office chairs, and the cleaning needed to keep the space tidy. PSL 3650 offers several properties for this:

  • Seamless. Without joints there is nowhere for dirt to settle. That keeps the floor easy to maintain and the reception looking well cared for.
  • Robust and durable. PSL 3650 is a polyurethane resin floor made for daily use in homes and commercial spaces.
  • Any colour is possible. The floor is available in all RAL and NCS colours. It can match a company's corporate identity or, as here, the same tone as the furniture.
  • Matt or satin gloss. The finish can be chosen according to the atmosphere you are after.

Not only for homes

Resin floors are often associated with homes and open living spaces. This project shows that the same qualities work just as well in a professional environment: calm, coherence and ease of maintenance are at least as valuable in an office as at home.

For architects and interior designers fitting out an office or practice, a resin floor is therefore a choice that supports the design rather than interrupting it.
