Not every floor has to play the leading role
In interiors with many changes of material and colour, the floor is often the element that keeps things calm. That is not a lack of ambition but a design choice: if everything asks for attention, nothing stands out any more.
This interior is a good example. The petrol blue kitchen, the bespoke birch and the terrazzo worktop are each pronounced. What holds them together is a light grey PSL 5450 floor that runs uninterrupted up to the large window.
What PSL 5450 is
PSL 5450 is our UV-resistant polyurethane resin floor, developed for homes and commercial spaces with high design requirements. The properties at a glance:
- Seamless — one continuous surface, without joints
- UV-resistant — colourfast, even with plenty of daylight
- Wear-resistant — stands up to intensive daily use
- Water-repellent — easy to maintain
- Soft to the touch — more pleasant underfoot than a mineral floor
- Suitable for underfloor heating — the system passes the heat through evenly
That combination is the result of our own development. Cuore was founded in 2021 out of the conviction that the sustainability of resin flooring products could be better, and the PSL 5450 range is one of the clearest outcomes of that.
Why UV resistance counts here
In this interior the window is one of the defining elements. A lot of daylight comes in, and that light does not reach every zone of the floor equally.
With a system that is not UV-resistant, that becomes visible over time. The zones that receive direct sunlight for years discolour faster than the zones lying in the shadow of a kitchen island or a cabinet wall. What starts as a subtle difference becomes, in time, a visible boundary in the floor — exactly where the space is used most.
PSL 5450 was developed to withstand that comparison. In a home with large glazed surfaces that is not a luxury but a basic requirement.
Soft underfoot
A property that seldom comes up in a design conversation, but that residents do notice: PSL 5450 feels soft. A polyurethane resin floor has a slight elasticity that a mineral or ceramic floor does not have. In a kitchen — where people stand for a long time — and in a living space where children play on the floor, that makes a noticeable difference in comfort.
Together with its suitability for underfloor heating, that gives a floor that stays pleasant all year round.
Colour as the connecting element
The soft light grey was chosen here because it can stand next to all the other materials without competing with them. It picks up the cool undertone of the petrol blue but stays warm enough to work next to the birch wood.
Because we develop and produce our systems in house, colour matching happens per project. Colour is, moreover, best judged in real life, in the light of the space itself and next to the materials the floor will sit beside.
